After careers in both financial sales and paramedicine, Spencer graduated from the Couples and Family Therapy Master’s program at Seattle University. His experience working in both corporate and medical fields gives him unique insight into the rich variety of humans and their relationships with themselves and each other. He enjoys working with all types of people and their diverse relationships. He is comfortable with an Emotionally Focused Therapy approach, while recognizing there are complementary techniques and perspectives from a variety of therapy models. Spencer does not believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach to therapy, but instead seeks to establish a genuine relationship with his clients, and from that, determine together an approach that best matches the goals they would like to accomplish.
While employing a wholistic mind, body and spirit perspective, Spencer’s approach validates each client as having the answers and abilities within themselves to become the best person they can be. His goal is to come alongside them and help them discover their best self. With a belief in the power of nature and physical activity, his practice also offers individuals the opportunity to experience therapy in various outside and movement-oriented modalities, such as walking, hiking, jogging and paddle boarding, while also maintaining an office in Gig Harbor with Connection Therapy Center.
While he has lived in Washington since 2005, Spencer has previously lived in California and Massachusetts. His non-work time is spent with his partner and four children, as well as spending time in the outdoors.
Spencer currently has a waitlist for new clients and is in-network with Premera and Regence as well as out of network coverage.
