My approach to therapy is fundamentally compassionate and focused on your needs and wants. My style is direct and honest, though anchored in context and understanding of you. I am keenly aware of how important a safe and supportive space is for personal growth. I care deeply for your overall well-being and I work to ensure you know this and feel cared for throughout our work together.
I tend to use an integrated therapeutic methodology that employs aspects of a number of evidence-based models such as Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Bowen Family Systems Theory. However, there are times when elements from other therapeutic theories and models provide more precise tools and resources for the situation.
I have an inherent curiosity about human behavior, interpersonal relationships, the power that our internal narratives hold, and what compels people to make the choices they do. I frequently find myself in awe of people’s endless complexity, ability to create and experience meaning, persevere and grow through challenges, and find safety with one another in context of emotionally intimate relationships.
I enjoy working with people to enhance the various dimensions in their interpersonal relationships, whether that be with a spouse, a partner or partners, a sibling, a child or children, or some combination of all of these. I am humbled by the privilege my clients give me in walking side by side with them as they navigate some of their most difficult life and relationship challenges. The changes I’ve witnessed my clients make within themselves, within their partnership(s), and within their family systems inspire my ongoing commitment to this work.
I work with individuals, couples, multiple-partner constellations, and families. I have specialized experience working with people within the LGBTQIA+ and the Armed Forces and Veteran communities. My post graduate work in spiritual studies can also offer clients a unique space to explore their relationship with current and/or past understandings of the role spirituality, faith, and religious traditions play/played in their lives.
