As a provider, I incorporate a multitude of disciplines informed by my previous work in the fields of cognitive neuroscience research, brain stimulation therapy, and humanistic techniques for treatment-resistant disorders. During my time as a therapist, I have worked with families and couples of mixed race and those within communities typically underserved by the mental health field. I find my home in systemic therapies (Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Systemic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), as well as Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I have lived my whole life in the greater Seattle area and feel a deep connection to it and the communities I have become a part of. Outside of my therapy work, I enjoy playing piano and guitar, walking, and playing videogames.
I believe that therapy is not a place of “change”. People seldom change, and to transact in this way is to leave behind what has given strength and forged identity. However, the next stage in life may include more than what is known and what is comfortable. To meet new opportunities and challenges is to accept the possibility of growth; An evolution of not just who you are, but the person you know you can become.
My work with clients is based on growth, empowerment, and creativity. Because therapy is at its core a collaborative process, both the journey and the destination are co-created and regularly reexamined so we can trace paths forward with confident steps. Along the paths you will walk, the obstacles that reveal themselves will require many parts of you, some known and other unknown. My position in this journey is to visit these places with you: Paying respect to your pain, anger, and/or sadness while finding moments to celebrate the successes and joys that make the journey worth the steps.
The basis of all the work I do with clients is first to honor the strength and courage of those who have made it to this point. I approach my clients with non-judgemental and culturally-attuned curiosity, as well as a fierce determination to empower them with the skills to achieve their behavioral, emotional and spiritual goals. Whether it be feelings of hopelessness, fear, anger, isolation, burnout, or everything all at once, the space we create for you in therapy will help you meet them on your own terms.
