Jordan Daniels, MA, LMHCA

About Jordan

Before entering the therapy field, I spent 10+ years in the public school system as a Special Education Teacher and Behavior Interventionist. During that time, I saw how often children and adolescents carry complex challenges—frustration, loneliness, and the exhaustion that can come from trying to function within systems designed primarily for neurotypical individuals. That work also made me deeply aware of professional burnout and caregiver fatigue. My experience as an educator has shaped my commitment to creating therapeutic spaces where clients feel  fully known, valued, and empowered for who they are.  My professional practice has also been shaped by time in Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya, where I witnessed and contributed to reconciliation efforts alongside children and families living in war torn regions. My experiences abroad have strengthened my understanding of both suffering and resilience.  In addition to counseling, I teach cross-cultural Psychology and Sociology at City University. I love working with young adults and consider myself a lifelong learner. Outside of work, I spend  as much time as I can outdoors—walking, hiking, camping, and exploring with my partner and  our two dogs. Nature has had a pivotal role in my own healing, and I often weave nature-based  practices into therapy when it fits a client’s needs and preferences.

Approach

My therapeutic framework is relational, humanistic, and person-centered. I believe every person has inherent worth and when provided a consistent, safe, and non-judgmental space, healing can begin.  At the heart of my work is the belief that both suffering and healing happen in the context of relationships. By exploring how unique life experiences and relationships have shaped us, we can better understand our pain and patterns of thought and behavior.  My interventions are rooted in Play Therapy, Neuroscience, and Systems Theory. While I tailor therapeutic interventions to each client’s unique story, I consistently work from a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and neurodiversity-affirming lens. In addition to my experience working with neurodiversity, I have experience working with clients who are navigating trauma, life or career changes, burnout, caregiver fatigue, anxiety and depression, eating disorders, and infertility. If you feel I am a good fit, it would be an honor to walk with you and your family in your healing journey.
